  • Dr. Shannon Leahy

Shannon was born and raised in beautiful northern Michigan.  Graduating as Valedictorian of her high school class, she completed her pre-dental studies at Hope College and Western Michigan University, then accepted early admission to The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry with full scholarship through the U. S. Navy’s Health Professions Scholarship Program. After earning her dental degree, Shannon proudly served in the U. S. Navy Dental Corps, including  focused training rotations with specialists in the areas of Periodontics, Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Oral Surgery.  She was one of a handful of women serving aboard the USS Trenton, and was involved in several humanitarian missions with Ken in Africa.  Loving Apex for its small-town charm, Shannon was thrilled when Ken and she finally transition from the lovely North Carolina coast to their new hometown with their son, and welcomed their daughter soon after.  Among Shannon’s interests are fitness, nutrition, and healthful living- she often attends seminars along this vein and shares insight with her patients.  She has instructed a community education seminar on children’s dental health through the Town of Apex, and has been the guest speaker for several area MOPS groups.  She especially enjoys visiting community elementary schools to discuss dental health with the children.  Check out our Facebook page for pictures of her dental mission trip to Nicaragua!  In her free time, you can find Shannon helping her daughter with volleyball, relaxing with her family at the beach, or dancing with Ken.  If you are looking for a compassionate and gentle dentist, you'll find that in Dr. Shannon!

  • Dr. Kenneth Leahy

Ken enjoyed a wonderful childhood in New Jersey, just up the street from his grandparents’ farm.  The son of a U.S. Navy Veteran who later owned and operated a dental laboratory, Ken realized he was interested in dentistry while attending Emory University.  After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree, Ken attended New York University School of Dentistry, and graduated with his D.D.S. degree.  He spent almost five years in private practice in New Jersey prior to joining the U. S. Navy Dental Corps.  Ken served as a Navy Dental Officer for many years before making the decision to call Apex his home.  An avid reader who enjoys kayaking and golfing, Ken also loves spending time with his family at the beach (luckily he is a strong and swift swimmer- he has saved several folks caught in the strong surf off the NC coast!) and throwing frisbee for his Gracie (the best dog ever).  Ken's wife and children proclaim him one of the best cooks around, and he prides himself in continually experimenting with new foods and recipes.  Ken continued his service to his country through the U.S. Navy Reserves, then, in hopes of being called upon to participate in humanitarian aid missions similar to those from his Navy-Marine deployment, he recently transferred to the NC Army National Guard.  Wearing many hats, and a fantastic leader of the younger crowd, Ken supports the community youth as the Commanding Officer of the Raleigh Battalion Sea Cadets.  Ken is a superb conversationalist whose patients never get bored!

  • Marie
    RDH

“I have been a dental hygienist for over 30 years.  What I enjoy most in my hygiene career is working with my patients to implement individualized strategies geared toward increasing their oral health.”  Hands down, Marie is one of the most thorough and skilled Dental Hygienists we've ever had the privilege of working with- and her recommendations for improving her patients' dental hygiene are fantastic!  Among Marie's many interests are outdoor activities such as horseback riding and camping--she's been known to bring along jet skis as well as her camper!  She also enjoys watching her daughter play Volleyball.  Marie is the caretaker for
her elderly mother and knows the importance of caring for the caregivers.  Two interesting facts about Marie:  she has volunteered her dental hygiene skills for several years working on the animals at the NC Zoo in Asheboro; also, she raises chickens and has raised a turkey, Giblet, who won 1st place at the NC State Fair (no- Giblet is not for sale!)!  Come in for a visit with Marie, and you will see for yourself why so many of our patients dole out accolades and refuse to see any other hygienist!

  • Alondra
    DAII

“I enjoy making patients smile and teaching them about dental hygiene.”  Enjoying learning, Alondra constantly strives to seek out opportunities for growth within the dental field. She cares for both adults and children, ensuring they have the best dental experiences and striving to improve their oral health through patient education.  Kind and compassionate, with a nice sense of humor and great professionalism, Alondra is a versatile and energetic part of our team.  Speaking and interpreting Spanish, Alondra also teaches ESL for the migrant laborers in her church community.  She enjoys going for a nice long run, reading books, and putting on her makeup.  Fun fact about Alondra: she is crazy about her three dogs!

  • Joclin
    Receptionist/Front Desk Manager

“I enjoy being in a position to help patients, whether it is helping them find a good time to come in or answering their insurance questions. I also like the fact that I learn so much while working.” Joclin enjoys reading, hiking North Carolina's various and beautiful trails, road trips, and spending time with her family. She was born in San Jose, California but has lived in the Raleigh area for quite some time. You would never guess, but Joclin is the mother of four (two kids and two puppies)!  Joclin commands the front desk and reception with professionalism and grace.  She is here to assist with your daunting insurance queries and to keep you on track with your appointments.
