Meet The Doctors

Dr. Joseph Palumbo enjoys using his comprehensive range of clinical skills to help patients achieve the bright beautiful smiles they’ve always wanted. He treats his patients on a personal, caring basis, giving them comfort and satisfaction with their results.
Dr. Palumbo received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook before earning his doctorate degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 1997. After completing an advanced education in General Dentistry from Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn NY, he and Dr. Yousuf formed East Lyme Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in 2000.

Dr. Palumbo also holds a fellowship certification in dental implants from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). He has advanced training in cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers from the Rosenthal Institute of Aesthetic Dentistry in New York City.

Dr. Palumbo’s other affiliations include Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT), CEREC Doctors Assoc., American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), and the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped (NFDH).

Dr. Palumbo resides in Old Saybrook with his wife and four children.

Dr. Yousuf graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Science. He received his Doctorate Degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 1997. Dr. Yousuf furthered his study by obtaining a degree of Advanced Education in General Dentistry from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia in 1998. In 2005, Dr. Yousuf was awarded a fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, where he demonstrated an exceptional interest in the advancement of Implant Dentistry. In 2006, Dr. Yousuf completed advanced training in cosmetic and smile makeover dentistry under the supervision of acclaimed cosmetic dentist, Dr. Larry Rosenthal in New York City.

Dr. Yousuf has been in private practice in Norwich, CT since 1998, and East Lyme, CT since 2000. He is an active member of the New London County Dental Society, Connecticut State Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and International Association of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. In his time away from the practice and study of Dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his three daughters, hiking, cooking, and golfing.

Dr. Michael LaGuardia

 Dr. LaGuardia graduated with a degree in finance from St John’s University. He continued his studies with a degree in biology from NY Institute of Technology. In 1999 he received his DMD degree from Tuft University. 
Dr. LaGuardia has been in private practice since 2007. His practice in Port Jefferson, NY focused mainly on family dentistry with an emphasis on preventative care. He’s currently transitioning to south Eastern CT, an area where he’s vacationed.

 He enjoys his son’s hockey and his daughters dance. His hobbies include golf, travel and physical fitness. He is looking forward to bringing his professional skill and treating the patients at East Lyme with the highest level of quality care and compassion.
