Zoom Q & A

What is Zoom® teeth whitening?

Zoom is an in-office whitening treatment for your teeth. It’s also available in take-home whitening trays. The treatment removes stains and corrects any discoloration as a result of normal aging. After a Zoom whitening session, your teeth are immediately whiter and shinier.

Why might I need Zoom whitening treatments?

Over time, the enamel on your teeth collects stains. Some stains go even deeper to a layer of your tooth called the dentin. Stains on the dentin make your whole tooth look darker and unattractive. Your teeth can become discolored from:

  • Certain medications
  • Smoking
  • Drinking lots of coffee or tea
  • Aging
  • Excessive fluoride
  • Colorful foods (e.g. cherries, soy sauce)
  • A lack of brushing
  • Red wine

Zoom whitening improves the look of shallow and deep stains alike. To keep your teeth white after your treatment, avoid the foods, drinks, and habits that cause staining.

How does Zoom work?

The in-office Zoom whitening procedure is simple, effective, and quick. At your appointment, Dr. Neuman applies a high-concentration bleaching gel to your teeth while making sure that your surrounding gums are protected. He keeps the gel on your teeth in 15 to 20-minute intervals. In total, the gel is on your teeth for about an hour. While the gel is on your teeth, he shines a bright blue light onto it to speed up the bleaching process.

After your session is finished, Dr. Neuman puts a protective gel on your teeth to reduce their sensitivity. Then, you’re free to go home and enjoy the immediate results of the treatment.

For patients who are too busy for a full whitening appointment, Dr. Neuman offers Zoom take-home whitening trays. The results aren’t immediate, but you can enjoy a newly bright smile in just seven days using them.

Is Zoom safe?

Zoom whitening treatments are completely safe when used correctly. Dr. Neuman performs in-office whitening carefully and attentively making sure your teeth and gums aren’t damaged from prolonged bleaching. Your teeth may be a bit sensitive right after the treatment, but Dr. Neuman can answer your questions and settle your concerns before your appointment.

Dull, yellow, or stained teeth are eyesores when you look in the mirror. For quick and easy whitening with Zoom, call or schedule your appointment online at Zenith Dental Arts today.
