Dental implants are small titanium posts that replace the roots of missing teeth. They are inserted into your jawbone during a minor surgical procedure that takes place in the dental office. After the implant has been placed in your jawbone, a completely lifelike porcelain tooth crown is attached. In some cases, the implant needs to fuse with the bone for several months before it is permanently crowned; in other cases, you can have new (but temporary) teeth the same day your implants are placed.
Dr. Mohamed simply wants to help you reclaim your smile. He is one of the most accomplished implant
specialists around, and he understands the impact of tooth loss.
The first step is a comprehensive exam in our dental office. Dr. Mohamed will examine your
mouth thoroughly and likely take x-rays to determine the quality of your jawbone and the
placement of your upper sinus.
When teeth are missing, your jawbone shrinks. In some cases, Dr. Mohamed has to perform bone grafting to allow a secure foundation for your dental implant.
If there is adequate space between your upper jaw and sinus, Dr. Mohamed may also have to perform a sinus lift.
In either case, our dentist will make sure you’re relaxed and comfortable. If you’re found to be a good candidate for dental implants, Dr. Mohamed will schedule you for implant placement, which is the first step to get started on the implant
