Hygiene Health and Wellness

Regular dental checkups are the most important aspect of any oral hygiene plan at Paige Prather Smiles. Our team truly looks forward to seeing our patients twice a year because we care about them, but we are also passionate about helping every patient we treat achieve and maintain their optimal level of oral health.

During every six month checkup, we’ll partner with you to assess your current oral hygiene routine and help you make the most of the care your smile receives on the 363 days a year we don’t get to see you. Our professional cleanings give your at-home hygiene a boost by removing plaque and tartar buildup that can lead to decay from those hard to reach areas of your smile.

PEDIATRIC DENTAL CARE

Do you have children who you’re currently taking to a pediatric dental specialist? While this may be necessary for children who have dental development concerns, Dr. Prather has years of experience working with infants, children, teens, and adults, and our practice welcomes patients of all ages. In addition to caring for your child’s basic dental needs, we offer a variety of treatments specifically geared toward childhood oral health concerns. Dr. Prather is especially passionate about helping children and infants who suffer from lip and tongue tie. She regularly works with support groups for nursing mothers who have infants with lip and tongue and is happy to provide treatments for the children and guidance for their mothers.

MOUTH GUARDS FOR TEETH GRINDING

Have you been told that you grind or clench your teeth at night? This is more than just a bad habit. It’s actually a pretty serious oral health condition known as bruxism. Left untreated, bruxism can lead to tooth wear, chips, cracks, and other damage. While it may be difficult to kick a bad habit you only experience during sleep, we offer a simple and comfortable solution – nightguards. These custom crafted oral appliances place a physical barrier between the rows of teeth that prevents potential dental damage preserving your optimal level of oral health.

PERIODONTAL THERAPY FOR GUM DISEASE TREATMENT

For adults over the age of 30, periodontal (gum) disease is the leading cause of tooth loss, and it impacts the oral health of more than 50% of this age group. After age 35, that number jumps to 80% in some studies. That’s why screening for periodontal disease at regular checkups is essential. If we do find that you’re suffering from early stages of gum disease known as gingivitis, we’ll recommend more frequent professional cleanings.
