Ceramic Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and onlays are tooth-colored restorations that are used on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. An inlay fits within the contours of the tooth. An onlay not only fits within the tooth’s contours, but also adds extra protection by covering the tooth’s chewing surface — the cusp tips of the tooth.
Getting an inlay or onlay requires two visits. In the first visit, Dr. Ward takes an impression of the tooth and bite so that the inlay or onlay can be custom-made. In the second visit, Dr. Ward bonds the inlay or onlay to your tooth and adjusts it so that your bite is comfortable.
