Dental Implants Houston, TX

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants provide the most life like replacement for missing teeth. Since dental implants look and function just like natural teeth, you are able to speak, chew and smile confidently. Houston dentist Bimal Mehta, DDS offers dental implants as a replacement option for missing teeth.

Dental implants are used to:

  • Replace a single tooth that is missing or broken
  • Restore teeth with significant decay
  • Replace multiple teeth
  • Anchor a dental bridge or denture

Advanced Technology

Dr. Mehta uses some of the most sophisticated dental technology in the treatment planning for dental implants. From digital x-rays to 3-D simulations, the entire treatment plan will be carefully outlined before any work is ever done inside the mouth. Careful planning ensures that the results will be comfortable, natural looking and long lasting.

About Dental Implants

Dental Implants have become the preferred choice for replacing missing teeth. They provide several important benefits for patients and support lasting dental health:

  • 95% or higher success rate
  • Improved bone and gum health (compared to alternative restorations)
  • Avoids degradation of health teeth (as in conventional bridgework)
  • Improves appearance of smile and lower face
  • No worry of slippage or dentures “falling out”

Dental Implant vs. Bridge vs. Dentures

All three of these restorations replace missing teeth, however a dental implant is the only one that replaces the actual root structure of a tooth. This means that the prosthetic tooth (or teeth) is permanently fixed in the mouth and does not require any support from neighboring teeth or use of adhesives.

For denture patients, dental implants can minimize speech impediments often associated with loose or ill-fitting dentures. The dental implants will also allow you to eat more foods and chew much more efficiently so you can live your life without concern over what foods you can and cannot eat.

The Dental Implant Procedure

The dental implant procedure takes place over several months:

Consultation & Evaluation – First, you will receive a comprehensive evaluation with Dr. Mehta. The dentist will inspect your teeth, gums and mouth and determine if dental implants are right for you. It is important that you have adequate bone structure to secure the dental implant in place.

Dr. Mehta will then create a personalized treatment plan and will coordinate treatment with an oral surgeon or periodontist who will perform the surgery.

Implantation – A dental implant is a tiny titanium post that serves as the root for the prosthetic tooth (dental crown or denture). The dental implant will be given 3 to 6 months to heal. During this time, you may have a temporary crown or bridge in place for healing and cosmetic purposes.

Implant Restoration – After the dental implant has integrated with the bone, it will be uncovered and Dr. Mehta will attach the dental crown to the dental implant. The dental crown is typically made of porcelain and looks like a natural tooth.

If you are having several teeth replaced, Dr. Mehta may use a dental bridge, partial denture or full denture. These types of restorations are typically secured on a few strategically placed dental implants.

After Care – The dental implant will look and function the same as natural teeth, in fact, you might even forget you have a dental implant. With dental implants, you will be able to floss and brush normally. Routine visits to the dentist are very important to ensure long term health and function of the dental implant.

How much do dental implants cost?

The cost of dental implants varies based on your specific condition. The number of dental implants to be placed, location of those implants and your health will all be considered into the dental implant cost.

While dental implants are a considerable investment, it is important to calculate the long term benefits that dental implants provide. We offer affordable dental implants by extending several flexible payment options including interest free financing for qualified patients through Care Credit.

Are dental implants painful?

The dental implant procedure is relatively simple. We offer sedation dentistry to keep you relaxed during your treatment and alleviate any dental implant pain. Some patients may experience mild to moderate pain after dental implant surgery, which usually subsides within 7 – 10 days following the procedure.

Once the dental implant has healed, you will not experience any dental implant pain and may even forget you have a dental implant!

What are denture implants?

Denture implants, sometimes called all on four, are a type of dental implant procedure that replaces most or all of a person’s missing teeth using 4 or more strategically placed dental implants. These dental implants serve as anchors for a denture or over bridge.
